Direct Thermal vs Thermal Transfer
Direct thermal uses heat-sensitive stock with no ribbon – simpler, cheaper to run, and well suited to short-life labels such as shipping labels and wristbands. Thermal transfer uses a ribbon for durable print that resists heat, sunlight and chemicals – the right choice for asset tags and harsh environments.
